Holy Quran competition on 'Great Prophet' held in Baghdad

A Quran competition dubbed Rasul Adham (Great Prophet (sawa)) was held in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad .Choral recitation of the Quran and Tawasheeh performances were also among the programs at the closing ceremony.

Hawzah News Agency (Baghdad, Iraq) - The two - day contest was organized for Quran reciters and memorizers serving the ministries of interior and defense as well as Popular Mobilization Units, also known as Hashd al-Shaabi.

It concluded in a ceremony on Monday where winners of the three categories, namely recitation of the Quran, memorization of 10 Juzes (parts) and memorization of 5 Juzes, were awarded.



The Quranic affairs committee of the Popular Mobilization Units held the Quranic event.

Choral recitation of the Quran by a group affiliated with the Quranic affairs committee and Tawasheeh (religious singing) performances were also among the programs at the closing ceremony.



Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of the Arab country’s former dictator Saddam Hussein.
